Accidents Happen

* Warning, if you have a weak stomach, you may not want to see the pictures.

Last Tuesday, Vivian and Joanna went to their friend's house for a playdate.  I dropped the girls off at 11 am, but I didn't leave until 11:30.

After leaving, I drove to Mayfair.  About 12:15 I received a phone call from Jenna stating they had a fishing accident and Vivian had a fishing lure in her eyelid.  She said they thought they could get it out bc it didn't seem to be that deep, but wanted to wait until I got there.  Jenna's neighbor was down there as well.  Of course I hit all the traffic lighrs and everyone seemed to be driving slower than usual.  We hang-up.  About almost 10 minutes later dhe calls me back asking if she needed her to take her to Urgent Care.  I said I was almost there.

When I got there, her neighbor was holding Vivian.  She had some bleeding, but it was shocking to see a fishing lure hanging from her eye.  She was being such a brave girl.

I took her to Urgent Care and Jenna brought Joanna up there.  Of course Jo was crying hysterically bc she didn't want to look at Vivian.  They attempted to remove the lure with no success.  They were able to remove the feathers, but the barb wasn't coming out.  That was the hardest part.  They only put a topical numbing ointment on.  Poor Vivian was screaming and begging the Dr to stop.  I finally asked if I should take her to the ER.  They said yes.

Jenna took Jo back to her house and I took Viv to the ER.  They ride there was good and she wasn't in any pain.  They took us right on back and after talking to the ER Dr, she felt more comfortable if we went to the surgical unit at the main hospital to have it removed.  She said if Urgent Care was unable to remove it, she didn't want to touch it in fear of lacerating her eye.  Off on another car ride.  Vivian was in good spirits playing with her teddy she got at the ER and Polly Pocket that Jenna got her.

Once we got checked in, we didn't have to wait too terribly wrong.  She was happy they were going to put her to sleep.  Yep, full on anesthesia.  The procedure didn't take long and the barb did go into the muscle.  She only needed one stitch and she was good to go.

Once we got home, Jenna, her Mom who lives in our neighborhood and the kids came by to see her.  Vivian was trying to jump on the trampoline and swing Reagan.

We are so very thankful her eyeball wasn't affected, vision remained intact.  So many things could have gone wrong.  Oh, and Vivian did this all to herself.  She went to cadt her line and it didn't fully release and swung back.  She didn't even know it was in her eyelid, but thought it was in her hair.  We are so thankful the good Lord didn't let the worse case scenario happen.

You were the bravest 6 year old on the planet sweet girl!  So so proud of you!!
