On Monday, we went with B to his first stop of morning meetings close to Bryant Park via Grand Central Station. Vivian loved seeing the ceiling. We parted ways and Viv and I spent our morning in Bryant Park. We had planned on going over to Time Square as well but she wasn't a fan of the walking. Ww didn't have any trouble spending a few hours there.
We first grabbed an Italian Hot Chocolate from Max Brenner. Ahh, it's the best! Vivian isn't really a warm drink person, but she loved it! We watched the ice skaters by the Christmas tree having our beverage. Afterwards we went into the little shops where she found an ornament with ice skates in remembrance of her 6th birthday party and our plans for ice skating in the city.
At 11 am, the carousel in the park opens. It was so cute and she absolutely loved it. She actually rode it twice. I love how simple things can bring so much joy in children.
After the carousel ride, we walked over to the library and headed straight to the children's room. She saw the original Winnie the Pooh and gang and read a couple of books before meeting daddy back at GCS.
We headed back downtown and jad lunch at Brookfield Place. After lunch, B went to his other meetings and we did Vivian's favorite thing from the entire trip, ice skating. We really enjoyed their ice skating rink. You have view of the Hudson River and it's less crowded than central park and Rockefeller. With skate rental, it cost $20 each for 90 minutes. We did have to wait until the public skate time opened at 2pm, but she didn't mind waiting since there was some snow on the ground. Another highlight!
After skating we walked over to the 9/11 memorial. I explained to her what happened, but I know she didn't fully understand.
Brian had a social that evening so we cuddled in bed and watched Christmas movies.
