Thanksgiving 2018

Long overdue post.  Hello life!

We did Thanksgiving a little differently.  Little Miss Joanna decided she has forgotten how to sleep thru the night back in October.  She wakes anywhere from 1-2 times a night calling for me and I did not want her to have free-range roaming at my in-laws.  Her door lock is reversed, so she cannot get out.  I didn't want to deal with all of that so B and Vivian went to my in-laws while Jo and I stayed home.

It felt odd just being the two of us and not around family, but we made the most of it.  We were going to take a fried turkey with us along with the turkey Nana was going to cook, but we left that behind to have.  Jo and I had the fried turkey, baked sweet potatoes, mac n' cheese salad.  She doesn't eat much anyway and she was happy.

After lunch, we went to the playground then to the beach.  It was cold, but we had fun.  I think she really enjoyed our one-on-one time.

We even braved Black Friday at Mayfair, which wasn't too bad since we got there around 8 am.  She had her first hot chocolate at Starbucks and we spent hours in Barnes & Noble.

B and Vivian made it home by 1 pm with lots of leftovers.  Happy I was able to have our special time together.

Thanksgiving 2016

This Thanksgiving we spent the night at Nana and Papaw's for the first time with Joanna.  It went better than I thought it would as for sleep.

We arrived around 11am, Joanna took her nap in the closet at 1pm (had to wake her at 3:15pm), ate at 3:30, B's sister and her family arrived around 4pm, the kids played their little hearts out.  So nice they are all around the same age.  ML is six, Will is 4 months older than Vivian, Isla is a month older than Joanna and Ford is 6 weeks old. So fun!

Thanksgiving 2015

What a wonderful Thanksgiving we enjoyed.  We had a successful drive to B's parents, Joanna's first road trip.  She napped for an hour and forty minutes until Vivian woke her up from whining trying to get out of her car seat.  That child.  Thankfully Joanna was continent the remainder of the way.  Drive time total is 2 hours 15 minutes.

The food was wonderful and the company was even better.  The girls got plenty of attention.  Vivian was able to try out the neighbor's tricycle.  She had a difficult time understanding the concept of peddling.  She'll get there!  She also loved playing with the wind chimes that his parents have in their backyard.  She would make it play the sound and run around in circles.  She was a happy girl!

Joanna was content and happy.  She didn't make a peep.  Just sat pretty, smiled and took everything in.  B's Nannie sure did love spending time with her great grandbabies!

Our drive back was successful as well.  Vivian did wake from a forty minute nap that woke Joanna up again.  Again, Joanna was content.  We got home around 6:30 pm.  The trip turned out a lot better than expected.  I thought for sure we were going to have several stops for Joanna like we did with Vivian when she was her age.  Joanna handles the car seat a heck of a lot better!  Thank goodness!!
