Father's Day Weekend

We had a WONDERFUL Father's Day weekend!  My Mom left on Saturday to head back to MS, but will returning back this Friday with my dad, brother and niece for Vivian's birthday weekend.

That morning we took Vivy to Kure Beach for the 1st annual kid music festival that was hosted by New Hanover library.

We had a good time.  Vivian enjoyed listening to the music.  She was bobbing her head to the music.  Too cute!

After listening to the music for a little while, we walked onto the pier to catch a nice breeze.

People were catching all different types of fish.  It was a little smelly :)

We made our way home and Vivian fell asleep in the car.  Little girl was exhausted!  After she woke from her nap, we had a late lunch at Kick Back Jacks.

Sunday morning we skipped church and relaxed around the house.  Vivian has a break fown each time she's in nursery.  I figured she would be use to it by now since we've gone every Sunday since April, but its not working out unfortunately.

We did make our way for lunch at Slice of Life and ice cream at Brewster's.

She sits so lady like!

We did lots of playing and took Brody on a walk after returning home.  The weekend definitely wore little one out.  She even took a short (I made it short) late afternoon nap on our walk.

Happy 1st Father's Day, Brian!  I hope you enjoyed your day.  We both love you very much!

Memorial Day (Belated)

Last Memorial Day we were on our "Babymoon" to Washington D.C.  Can't believe I was 35 weeks pregnant at the time.  Time has definitely flown by!

This Memorial Day was spent at home with little one.  B ordered 15 lbs of crawfish from Lousiana Crawfish Company. Delicious!  My Mom didn't care for them...thought they tasted dirty.  This was her first time trying one...hard to believe.  How do you live in MS your entire life and have never tried a crawdaddy?

Vivian had fun hanging out in her exersaucer eating sweet potato fries.

I filled a tupperware container with water for her to sit in and she wasn't having that.  Surprise,  surprise!

Shortly after this picture was take, my phone somehow feel off the chair and my screen busted and stopped working.  $190 and 2 weeks later I have a fixed phone.

I think you had an okay first Memorial Day little girl!

When did I become "that" Mom?

My apologies Vivian, but I have turned into a neurotic coo-coo when it comes to your food.  Never in a million years I would have thought I would be "that" Mom who is all about all organic or not letting you have anything unless its GMO free.  I HATE they put so many unnecessary junk into our foods.  Why on earth would you have to put chemicals that go into yoga mats and soles to our shoes into what we eat?  Makes zero sense!

We were in the grocery store this afternoon and I was going to get you a box of black bean burgers because you loved my black bean patty from Which Which.  Yes, I'm sure it was loaded with GMOs, but that's something I can't control when we're out.  Anywho, there were so many unneccessary ingredients for something that's so simple to make.

Morning Star Black Bean Burger:

WATER, COOKED BLACK BEANS (BLACK BEANS, WATER), COOKED BROWN RICE (WATER, BROWN RICE), ONION, WHOLE KERNEL CORN, CORN OIL, SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, WHEAT GLUTEN, EGG WHITES, DICED TOMATOES, BULGUR WHEAT, GREEN CHILES, CALCIUM CASEINATE, CORNSTARCH, CONTAINS TWO PERCENT OR LESS OF ONION POWDER, SPICES, TOMATO JUICE, YEAST EXTRACT, TOMATO POWDER, DEXTROSE, SALT, GARLIC POWDER, HYDROLYZED VEGETABLE PROTEIN (CORN GLUTEN, WHEAT GLUTEN, SOY PROTEIN), SOY SAUCE (SOYBEANS, WHEAT, SALT), NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS, PAPRIKA, JALAPENO PEPPER, CITRIC ACID, XANTHAN GUM, DISODIUM INOSINATE, THIAMIN HYDROCHLORIDE, CARAMEL COLOR, LACTIC ACID.

Home Made Black Bean Burger:

Black beans, green bell pepper, corn, onion, garlic clove, egg, chili powder, cumin, hot sauce, bread crumbs.

Amazing!

I'm not going to deprive you and so 'no' to all foods, but I know one of the things that I will not be giving you is soda.  No Sprite, Coke, Dr. Pepper, etc.  Sorry charlie, not happening.  You will be the kid drinking either water, milk or sparkling water.  I'm not even a fan of juice.  My theory is, if I don't eat or drink it, neither will you.  I'm going to hold off on fast foods as a long as possible as well. We will see how successful this will turn out!

For your birthday, we will be having Memom's special 'little bread' for breakfast.  It's basically french toast covered in cinnamon and powder sugar, no syrup.  Your smash cake will be all organic and GMO free, but delicious!  I've already did a trial run :)  Your icing will be pureed strawberry, cream cheese and powder sugar (all free of GMO's).  I think you are going to love it!

I'm just thankful we have a Whole Foods.  I love they have everything labeled if it's GMO free or not.  Makes for less stressful shopping on my part.

Here's to happy eating my little girl!

First Pool Experience

I can at least say it went better than going to the beach!  The beach was so terrifying for her that we had to bring the beach to her, at our house.

Little better experience having the sand in her safe space.

Today really felt like summer.  The humidity has arrived so I figured we would try out the pool and see if she would have a melt down.  She did shed some tears and fussed a little; but overall, it went better than expected.

I'm hoping to will become use to the pool and start having fun once she's out there.  Plus, we're having a pool party for her 1st birthday and I don't want her to be upset on her big day.

Great kick start for the month of June!
