Home Tour

Yesterday, Joanna slept the almost entire day.  Growth spurt perhaps?  And Vivian was obsessed watching youtube videos of people making things out of play-dough.  I was a terrible Mom allowing her to watch her 'peppa' aka Kindle all day long.  So while the kids were doing their own things, I got to cleaning.

We had our new couch delivered yesterday for the kitchen area.  Word of advice, never purchase large furniture off the internet.  We ordered a different couch (Broyhill) back in April, not long after moving into our new house, from Sofas and Sectionals and that was a big mess.  When larger furniture is purchased, they send it to a shipping company to have delivered to your home.  Well, they delivered our couch to a company called Speedy Pack.  When they came to deliver our couch, a piece of the sectional was missing and another piece was damaged.  We refused delivery until they were able to find the missing piece and repair the other piece.  This was after waiting 8 weeks to be delivered.  Fast forward 2 more weeks and they found the missing piece and repaired the couch.  When they came back to deliver the couch, they only had 1 piece of the sectional.  They thought the rest had already been delivered to the house.  The piece they were delivering was the piece that was damaged that hadn't been repaired yet.  We refused delivery again and cancelled our order.  FYI, the customer service at Sofas and Sectionals is terrible.  B is still waiting for them to refund all of his money.  They only refunded him half.  A credit dispute will be happening next week if he doesn't receive the rest.

B went ahead and ordered a different couch from a different online company, Furniture Cart.  We received the couch in 3 weeks after purchasing, but the company they are contracted with, Ward Trucking, only delivers by a full size 18 wheeler.  What kind of residential neighborhood can get an 18 wheeler through?  Well, B had to rent a Uhaul and meet the delivery guys at Lowe's Home Improvement store to pick it up and we moved it into the house.  Lesson learned...never purchase large furniture off the internet!

I LOVE our house!  It has the best flow and perfect for our family.  The girls have plenty of room and mama has her dream kitchen.  We'll eventually change the counter tops out for something a little lighter, but that won't happen to way down the road.  The house was a spec home for the new neighborhood and was built six years ago, but only had one owner.  That guy only lived in it for four months until moving again for his job.  This house is practically brand new.  We I couldn't be more happier!

Part 1: Saying Goodbye To Our 1st Home

Since this will be a very long post I'm going to divide it into several parts.

Spring 2008, B and I purchased our first home after renting for almost 2 years of our marriage.  We searched all over Wilmington for several months before finding our first home.  Just under 1,700 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 2 bath, a bonus room above the 2 car garage and a fenced in backyard.  A great home for a young married couple and their dog.

After being here for almost 7 years, we made grey squirrel dr "our home."

We renovated by doing most of the work ourselves.  Minus installing the tile, wood floor and silestone counter tops. When we purchased the house I was in-between jobs which means renovating the house became my full-time job.  I ripped up all the carpet, floor tacks, took up the linoleum, painted, was B's helper installing the appliances (that was a pain).  It made the house all more special with all the sweat and energy I put in.

We've shared lots of meals.  Lots of good ones and maybe more bad ones.

Brody's many different Halloween costumes.  His least favorite holiday.

Celebrating Brody's birthday, 7 to be exact. I went from being into my 20s into my 30s in this house.  B spent all of his 30s here.

Went through a few hurricanes and tropical storms.
