On Saturday, spur of the moment, we decided to carve a pumpkin. I was bored since our plans had changed and thought Vivian would enjoy playing with the insides. Off to Wal-Mart we went, grabbed a less than $5 pumpkin and a carving kit.
The weather was perfect outside! Two garbage bags placed on the ground and a pumpkin to carve.
I thought Vivian was going to love pulling the 'guts' out the pumpkin, but child did not like the slimy feel. She preferred running around while Mommy worked on the pumpkin. Oh well, I'm sure next year she'll be my little helper. I did save the seeds and made roasted cinnamon sugar pumpkin seeds. We both enjoyed our afternoon treat!
We are one week in being on our own since my Mom left. I have to say, its going better than I thought it would. Vivian hasn't been as whiny and clingy...which is a very good thing. Brian has been home since summer school ended and he's been a huge help...especially with Vivian. That little girl sure does love her daddy!!!
I was really concerned about the mornings since Vivian is an early riser and Joanna usually wakes about the same time Vivy wakes up. Thank goodness they've been coordinating it well. Joanna has been waking between 4-5 am to eat, goes back down and Vivian wakes anywhere between 5-6 am. My day starts early, but that's okay. I actually enjoy going to bed around 8:30-9pm.
I feel bad about poor Joanna not being held as much anymore. I have her included when she's not napping if Vivian wants me to play with her. She'll either hangout in portable swing, which has been great, or on her play mat. She's turning into a go with the flow type of girl. Guess you have to when you have another kiddo to take care of.
I was really concerned with finding the time to cook, but that has been going great as well. My Mom made me a calendar to write down a menu for each day for a month. That is the way to go my friends! She bought large drawing paper and drew out each day of the week. We'll have the same type of meals for each day. She made several sheets for me and I'm hanging the menu on the inside of the pantry with ticky-tack. Saturday: grill night, Sunday: a meat that we grilled the night before and sides, Monday: Crockpot dish, Tuesday: Mexican, Wednesday: One Pot meals, Thursday: Leftovers, Friday: Eat Out. I search on Pinterest and cookbooks for simple and easy recipes. No time for complicated and lots of ingredients meals. I'm doing my grocery shopping on Saturday's and purchase all I need minus the meats and vegetables for later days since they spoil easily. I'm the worst about using frozen meat, so for me, it's best to purchase weekly.
I'm sure we will have a total mess of a day, but right now we are doing great. I did have my first experience of taking both girls by myself to the doctor because Vivian is sick. They both started crying at the same time. I was wearing Joanna and Vivian wanted to be held when the Dr was looking at her. Poor girl has a cold and ear infection. Now Joanna is congested. This will be the story of my like once Vivian starts preschool this fall.
Vivian, you are 100% a 2 year old! You know how to throw a good tantrum and you know how to give the best hugs and kisses. The past couple of weeks you've started speaking full sentences. Out of nowhere you said, "Memom, there you are!" Amazing to hear! From then you have saying a lot more. You love trying to make me laugh. You make silly sounds with the cutest facial expression. I can't help to laugh out loud! Another silly side of you is marching. You love to march. You'll go around the house or in a store doing your march walk and say, "march, march, march." So stinking cute! You have become quite the frog catcher. You're not afraid to pick one up and toss in your pool (which several non-water frogs have parished), toss them in your wagon for a stroll or carry them around in your bug catcher. You are all daddy!
I try to do my best to get you out of the house to experience different things. We've recently went to a petting farm and to the loggerhead hospital. I drive you all the way down to myrtle grove library for storytime because Mr. Scooter does the best job.
Your FAVORITE song right now is the Golden Girls theme song. In the car you constantly want to hear it. That was one of the only songs that would calm you in the car when you where little. It is a catchy little tune. Your the best eater. You love eating your fruits and veggies which makes mommy happy. I pray that continues. If you really like something, after taking a bite you say, "mmm, that's good!"
You love your baby sister. I love seeing you give her sweet kisses and gentle hugs. You've even gotten your plastic knife and fork trying to do who knows what with her. Again, all daddy according to his childhood stories I've been told.
You are growing into a spunky, beautiful, determined little girl! I can't wait to see you grow even more! I love you sweet angel!!!!
Happy Birthday to our sweet, beautiful, fun loving, full of energy, smart, strong, hilarious little girl! I CANNOT believe we have a 2 year old!!!! These 2 years have definitely flown by. It seems like just yesterday we welcomed you into our lives.
Peanut, you finally it the 23 lb mark and 31 inches tall. Sad to say you can still wear some 12 months clothes. Shoe size we are a size 4 and diaper is a size 3. Bedtime is still 7 pm and you wake up around 5:30 am, but we don't get out of our crib until 6 am. As far as naps, you are starting to wean yourself from taking one. We attempt everyday, but these past few days you lay on the couch watching Minnie Bowtique on the Kindle. As long as your getting some rest. When you are tired, you play with your hair.
You have been a complete joy to our family. You are becoming a silly little girl. Your new thing is walking around with your eyes closed. Ha!
You love to dance! You climb on top of the coffee table and say, "dance!" You look at me and want me to sing so you can break out into your dance moves. You love to jump as well. Memom bought you a Little Tikes trampoline so you wouldn't jump on the bed as much.
You are talking more each day. Your favorite things to say are, "more," "need help," "need hug," "uh oh," "keep back."
You have developed quite the sweet tooth like your mama. You love popsicles and ice cream. You also like your fruit and veggies. Asparagus is a fav right at the moment. You still love your water, but love your orange juice and milk also.
You love the water! Love running in the sprinklers and water hose. Bath is still the best!! However, the ocean you aren't a fan of. I guess the waves and the size scares you. You are content hanging out on the beach and playing in the sand.
You love your baby sister, Joanna. Love giving her sweet kisses on top of her head. She'll be more fun once she gets older I promise!
We had your little birthday party yesterday, Father's Day, and your Nana and Papaw where able to come. It was just us, plus Memom, that were here to celebrate. You loved your ice cream cake Memom made and you Bojangle's chicken :)
cookware playset, pots, and peel n' play vegetable set. Memom got you Lego Duplo train and farm animals, trampoline and a lawn mower bubble maker. Nana and Papaw got you a gorgeous Elsa dress and Lego Duplo Farm. You had a great birthday little girl!!
I hope you enjoyed your day and looking forward to celebrating many more birthdays with you!
Side note: Memom made you a Sprout birthday card in hopes it would be on t.v. and guess what, it made it!! It was really neat seeing your card on the Sunny Side Up Show!!
