1 Month Old

Oh so sweet yet extremely fussy Joanna, what a quick month it has been.

Mommy weighed you the other day and you, my sweet darling, weighed 9 pounds.  You LOVE mommy's milk that's for sure!  You nurse about every 2 hours while awake and at night you go in 4-6 hour stretches.

You are out of newborn clothes and have moved up to 0-3 months.  Mommy tried putting on a Carter's onesie on you the other day and you got stuck.  Mommy thought she was going to have to cut it off of you! You did not like that one bit.  You're still wearing newborn diapers, but we are soon going to move up to size 1.

Bedtime is anywhere between 7-8pm depending on how you are in the late afternoon.  Usually by 6/6:30 pm you are a complete mess.  Doesn't matter if you had just woken up or not from napping, or if you've nursed.   I have no clue what it is about that time.

We've already started your bedtime routine of bath, which you HATE by the way, lotion, jammies, swaddled, nurse, in your bassinet next to mommy.  You sleep until 12-2am and then up again around 3-5:30am then back to sleep.  You wake up from the day between 6-7:30am.

I love how you smile in your sleep.  Love seeing your sweet dimples.

You LOVE when mommy wears you.  You are so content that you always fall asleep.  You love being close to me, and I love being close to you.

Your not a fan of anyone else holding you.  You start crying as soon as Daddy or Memom has you in their arms. You like to make things a little difficult for mommy. You don't like lying down on your playmat, swing, bouncer, rock n'play.  I can occasionally put you in your swing or rock n' play when you have fallen asleep on me.  You will nap for several hours if you're outside, but will only nap for a few minutes once you go in the swing inside.

You love the heat.  Heat seems to calm you down when your being fussy with mommy.

You HATE the car seat.  Vivian didn't care for it either, but you my child absolutely hate it.  You start crying once you go in and you don't stop until I take you out.  I feel so bad because you cry so hard you start sweating and turn beet red.  I've tried MULTIPLE times trying to give you a paci, but that comes right out.  You'll suck on my pinky finger for a few minutes then you get mad because nothing is coming out.  I usually have to lean over and give you the boob.  Yet that doesn't last long before you're screaming at the top of your lungs.

Your big sister loves you so much.  She gives you kisses on the top of your head all of the time and tells you, 'I need hug' then gives you the sweetest squeeze.  You two are going to be the best of friends!

We all love you so much sweet girl!  You have completed our family and look forward to watching you grow into a beautiful girl inside and out.

1 Month Old

Boy, how quick did this month go?  I can't believe our sweet baby girl is already a month old.  I know in a blink of an eye she will be walking around and talking.

Things that she likes are:
  • Sleeping.  Child sleeps all day and night.
  • Eating.  We are on a 3-4 hr eating schedule which makes life convenient. Squirt is already 8 lbs.
  • Being bounced on our leg.  That seems to calm her down everytime.
  • Being outside.  When the wind blows she spreads out her little arms.
  • Being pushed in her stroller.
  • Baths.
  • Sucking on her fingers.
Things that she dislikes are:
  • Tummy time.  Screams bloody murder every time.
  • Hiccups.  Child gets them at least 5 times a day.  Hate it for her.
  • Getting into clothes.
  • Pacifiers. Only once in a blue moon that she will take one.  Otherwise she spits it right out.
She is becoming more observant and looking around.  She is beginning to mimic us.  If we stick our tongue out, she will do it as well...not always, but sometimes.  She will now hold grip to my finger which I think is the sweetest thing.  She is the spitting image of her daddy.  I'm hoping she will get some of me as she grows older.  I do have to say I think she does have my nose and mouth.  I love watching her sleep.  She will make the cutest facial expressions.  She always shows us a little smile.

I know I will soon be writing her 2 month story.  I want time to slow down!  I am simply amazed by her and so incredibly thankful that she is in our lives.  Couldn't imagine that it was any other way!  I love you baby girl!!
