San Diego Part 2

Monday afternoon, Brian finished his conference around 5:30 pm.  I spent almost 2 hrs alone in our 'haunted' room.  Not going to lie, it was a little creepy.  While I was sitting at the desk, my seat all of a sudden started getting really hot and I had an uneasy feeling.  Paranoia I guess.

We had dinner at Coronado Brewing Company which was really good.  We made our way back to the hotel close to 9 pm.  After getting into bed I turned the side table lamp off and then all of a sudden the light started flickering on-and-off.  I moved next to B quickly...Brian told me I was ridiculous thinking that Kate was in the room with us.  Sorry, I have never have that happen before and they said it that was one of the things that happens in the room. Little spooky.

I got up at 5:30 am to pump and called my Mom to check on little one.  Of course, she was doing great.  I got dressed and walked down to Starbucks while Brian slept.

After breakfast, I walked to the beach and sat on the bench like a little elderly person.

After enjoying the outdoors, I went up to the room  pump again and got Brian up.  It was a little overcast, but I was ready to make our way to the zoo.

I do love the San Diego Zoo...I hope to take Vivian one day.  We stayed all afternoon.  When you first enter, you have the flamingos.

I enjoy watching them.  We made our way to the sea lion show. They also show cased several other animals.  I thought the wolf was amazing.  What was even more amazing, him and a dog are best friends.

After the little show we took the sky cart to the other side of the zoo.

Balboa Park

Downtown San Diego

We saw the oldest Tortoise, Speedy.  They have estimated his age to be about 150 years old!  How incredible is that?

Speedy

We also saw Polar Bears, Reindeer, Giraffe and my personal favorite, Koala Bears.  I would love to hold one one day.

This little guy was only a couple of months old.

So cute!!!
I even had the pleasure to pump at the zoo.  Fun, let me tell you!  I had to sit outside with a curtain blocking me on a bench next to the First Aid house.  Behind me was the reptile house so I could hear people talking.  Another mother even came in on another bench to nurse her little girl.  Ready to put pumping behind me!

After the zoo, we took a taxi downtown and found a place to eat and have a few drinks.  Downtown was having a Mardi Gras fiesta and were charging $40 per person to go down one street to enter the restaurants.  Crazy.  We went to a street over and came across a place called The Commons Bar.  It was SO GOOD!  They had the best nachos, turkey burger and sweet potato fries.  Very friendly service as well.

We stayed until about 8:30 pm before heading back to the hotel.  We got us a good night sleep and I got up bright and early once again for breakfast and one last walk around the grounds.

The original elevator
While waiting for our taxi at the hotel there was a guy with a Mississippi State shirt on.  Apparently, MS Asphalt was having a convention at the hotel.  We spoke with the guy for a few minutes and he said there was a guy there from Winona named Jeff Johnson.  I'm not familiar who he was, but what a small world.

We got to the airport around 9:30 and our flight departed at 11 am.  One neat thing was that one of the passengers on our flight was celebrating his one million miles with Delta.  That's a lot of flying!  We also flew back to Atlanta on a new aircraft.

We got home around 11 pm.  I was so ready for the next morning to see my little sweet sweet!  I sure did miss this little girl!

San Diego Part 1

We said our, 'see you later' to our baby girl Saturday afternoon for our departure to San Diego.

Not going to lie, I got a little teary-eyed but I didn't cry.  I was very proud of myself.  I knew she was going to be in GREAT hands!

We got to the airport around 3 pm and departed at 4pm.  I pumped before leaving the house and knew I was going to have to pump on the plane since we didn't have a long layover in Atlanta and we didn't get to sit next to one another on the plane to San Diego.  I wasn't about to pump next to a stranger, so I pumped on the little commuter plane to Atlanta.  That was awkward!  I went to the lavatory to set myself up and ran to my seat so no one would wonder what was sticking out of my shirt, ha.  Oh the things I do for my child...even though I dumped the milk...that was hard.  I just closed my eyes when pouring it out.  I didn't want to deal with it while on our trip. Plus, I wanted to drink a little more caffeine and have more than one adult beverage.

We arrived in San Diego at 8:30 pm, grabbed our taxi and made our way to our hotel.  The Westgate was beautiful.  Old and grande.

Our room had a nice view.

We were both tired...especially me since I had been up since 5:30 am.  We called it a night.  Sadly, I didn't sleep well since I didn't have my box fan.  I need noise to sleep.

I got up at 6 am and called my Mom to check on little one.  She was doing great which made me feel better.  She went down easily and woke up happy :)  After our little talk I got back into bed.  It rained all morning.  Brian had to make his way to Hotel Del Coronado
for his conference.  He left around 8:45 am.  I made myself a cup of coffee, watched House Hunters and stayed in bed until 10:30 am.  Pure bliss!

Check out was at noon.  I was starving since I didn't have breakfast, well, I had a granola bar but that doesn't count, so I walked to Panera Bread and had myself a cup of Turkey Chili and half a Turkey & Avocado sandwich.  It was delicious!

After lunch I walked across the street to the mall.  I browsed for myself, but of course gravitated to clothes for Vivian.  I bought her two adorable swimsuits from Baby Gap.

I CAN'T wait to see her in this!  Going to be so cute.  After walking around, I made my way back to the hotel to grab my luggage and a taxi.  I told Brian I would be at the hotel around 2 pm since he was going to be finishing up at 2:30.  Once I got into the taxi he texted saying he was done and that he was in the room.  He did text me earlier to let me know how much the cab fare was and that he was able to check into the room early, but there was a catch.  The room is supposedly haunted by a ghost named Kate Morgan. Great!

Hotel Del Coronado is absolutely beautiful and massive!

We walked to the beach to check out the waves.  A little bigger than on the East Coast.

We started to get hungry so we freshened up and went to Miguel's Cocina for some Mexican.  It was so good!

I went for the chicken chimichanga.  Oink, oink!

After eating we started to walk back to the hotel and saying how tired we were.

I asked him what time it was and he said, "six o'clock."  What?!  We can't go to our room this early!  So, we went to a little bar and had a drink.

We stayed until 8.  We are super wild!

I woke up before 5:30 am this morning because I heard my phone drop on the floor.  I moved next to Brian quickly.  He asked what that was and I told him my phone fell off the table by itself.  He goes, "Kate, Kate, are you in here?"  Little scary...not going to lie.  I went ahead and got dressed after pumping because I didn't want to be in the room by myself when I had to shower.  Brian had to be at his conference at 8:30.

I was on the bed watching tv and B walked out from the bathroom after his shower and told me to come here he wanted to show me something.  I was hesitant, but went into the bathroom anyway and this is what I saw.

That goober.  Too funny.

We walked out together and I grabbed some breakfast and walked around the hotel.

Brian finished up around 11 am and we grabbed lunch at the Burger Lounge.  It was so good!  I got the Quinoa Burger and we shared some fries.  B got a cheese burger that he really enjoyed.

We finished up and walked the strip.  We did stop for a sweet treat.

Couldn't say 'no' to that!  We were miserable and decided to make our way to our room for a much needed nap.

I woke up t 2:30 and called my Mom to check on baby girl.  They were doing great!  Can't wait to see her Thursday morning!!

Not sure what we are doing tonight, but tomorrow we are going to San Diego Zoo.  Wish Vivy was here so she could see the animals!
