Easter Weekend 2017

Easter weekend was a good one.  We took Joanna bowling for the first time, had our church Easter egg hunt and most importantly, Sunday church service.  We ate, played, cried over the Easter bunny (JoJo, not Vivian), ate some more and really enjoyed our beautiful weekend we had.  Of course, the kids highlight was seeing their baskets filled with Easter goodies.  I know they won't remember these days, but we will.  So fun!

Joanna 22 Months

Boy, I have been a slacker on updating this blog.  Sorry Joanna for being able to document each month for you I did with Vivian.  Life with two kids I suppose.  Well, before you turn 23 months, here's an update on the soon to be 2 year old.  Eek!  I CANNOT BELIEVE my sweet babe is about to turn 2!

Stats: 20.4 lbs, not sure how tall you are.  Shoe size toddler 5, but I think you move to toddler 5.5-6.  Size 4 diapers.  Clothes 18-24 months in tops and dresses, bottoms 18 months and also wearing 2T leggings that are slightly loose.

Sleep:  Wake around 7am (if you wake before 7, I don't come get you until 7am), Nap 1 - 3/3:30 (always wake by 3:30pm...there are days you wake around 2:30, but I leave you there until 3pm), bedtime go up at 7...sometimes 7:15pm...and you are in the crib by 7:15-7:30pm.  You take up to an hour to fall asleep.

Bedtime Routine:  Brush teeth (which you hate), you currently love looking at the pictures of The Adventures of Milo and Otis, and Brown Bear, Brown Bear.  Go into your sleep sack, take a sip of water, lamp off, box fans on, I sing (and you sing along with me which is the sweetest thing EVER) Baa Baa Black Sheep (favorite song), Silent Night, Jesus Loves Me, Jesus Loves The Little Children and You Are My Sunshine.  You go in your crib, I give you your dalamation puppy, and tell you 'night night, I love you, sweet dreams, I will see you in the morning.  Good night sweet darling'.

Eating: You love pasta with marinara sauce (really most all pasta), multi-grain cheerios, strawberries, smoothies, sweet potato fries, spinach leaves, chicken nuggets, hamburgers (you will not eat it if it has cheese), soup, all desserts and sweets.

Favorites:  You love nursery rhymes!  You try to sing along and sway you head back and forth...so cute.  Baby dolls, running/playing chase, swinging, sliding  (you aren't afraid of going down the big slides at the playground), the beach, rocks, lizards, frogs, dogs, playing with your cash register, and taking whatever Vivian has away from her.

Dislikes:  Diaper changes, being told 'no', riding in the shopping cart for too long, leaving some where fun, having to wait (you have zero patience).

Speech:  You can say, 'mama, dada, dog, bird, peppa, more, ball, baby', to name a few.  You understand every single thing we say.  When you want to do something one more time, you hold one finger up and say, 'more' for just once more.  When you want an m&m it is the cutest thing hearing try to say m&m...you stick your tongue in and out with words coming out.  Love it!

I can already tell you're going to be the little comedian in the family. You love trying to make us laugh.  The cutest thing is when you tilt your chin to your chest then look up with your eyes, moving them around.  It's hilarious!!

You have 'smiling eyes' as Memom calls them.  When you smile, your eyes smile as well.  When I take your picture you go 'cheeeezzee' and tilt your little head to the side.

When you hug, you give the biggest hugs.  You love giving Vivian hugs in the bath.  When I pick you up from church nursery or if I leave the house without you and come back, and when you see me or daddy, you open your wide and scream 'mama or dada' and hug us tightly.  So adorable seeing the excitement.

We love you so much sweet darling.  This has been a quick 22 months!  You are acting more and more like a a toddler each and every day.  I can't imagine life without you baby girl. Love you always always!!

Brody

(Sept 27, 2006 - Jan 31, 2017)

Our sweet Brody bear, what a wonderful life you lived...lucky little puppy!!!

We are so blessed we picked YOU!  After searching on the internet on what breed we wanted, we found you on the internet from a breeder in Texas.  You were the last pup to be picked from the litter!!  We had you flown into Savannah's airport just before Thanksgiving.  When we arrived at the airport one of the employees had you cuddled in her arms.  You were the cutest puppy ever!  I remember you pottied going into the apartment and thought what a great little boy you were.  We had lots of new babies for you and you explored your new home.  That first night you slept in the crate next to our bed.  The next night you whined and whimpered so I pulled you in the bed with us.  You slept in the bed with us up until the last night you were with us.

Like your first day with us, I will never forget your last.

Before the summer last year you had 3 teeth extracted on your left side.  About a month later, you started to have a knot above your left eye that was sensitive to touch.  We went to MS for 5 weeks and when we returned, I took you to the vet.  When he opened your mouth, you yelped and blood shot every where out of your nose.  It was horrible.  Your Dr had never seen anything like it.  He gave you an antibiotic to see if that would help with anything.  After you finished your round of antibiotic, there was no change.  You bled again from your nose when he tried looking in your mouth.  He barely opened it.  He said he believed you had facial bone cancer and your nasal passage was deteriorating.  The extraction could have started the process.  He said there wasn't anything we could do.  Chemo would only prolonged your life a little more and surgery couldn't be performed, so your life was a waiting game.

Your last day spent with us involved lots of cuddles, kisses, hugs, tummy scratches, picture/video taking, saying love you's, a car ride, staying in my arms.  You were terrified of the vet's office, start shaking as soon as we pulled into the parking lot, so we decided had a in-home euthanization. I am SOOO happy we did. When Dr. Anderson arrived at the house, I of course start crying.  When she walked in, she was so incredibly sweet and compassionate.  She went to rub Brody, he started growling which is crazy because both of his eyes were closed shut, he can't see.  He sensed something was going on!  We talked for a bit until we went on the couch.  Brian was at work, it was just me and the girls.  Thankfully, I had this done during Joanna's nap and it was just Vivian and I. When we got on the couch she was going to sedate him.  He moved off my lap quick!  Smart boy!  I got him back on my lap and she was able to give him his shot...he didn't even flinch.  She gave me some alone time with him while he went into a deep sleep.  He was so relaxed he was snoring.  I was able to rub his head when he hasn't wanted it touched in months.  Gave him lots and lots of kisses and took in the weight of him resting on my chest, listening to him snore.  About 10 minutes later, we layed him on his dog bed.  She gave him his IV, then he was gone. He looked as if he was sound asleep on his big comfy bed.  The cremation guy was already at the house to take him away. After I said my final goodbyes,he strapped him on a little gurney and drove off with my little boy.  The next day his ashes were returned in a beautiful wood box, an impression of his paw and clippings of his hair.  It was so sweet.

So here's a look into your life sweet boy.  I must say, you had a great life.  I hope you knew how much we loved you!  You were the sweetest, not the brightest, most loving pup I have ever known.  You will forever be missed my baby boy!!

You were our only "child" for six years and our only baby boy. With being the only "child" you were spoiled rotten!  You went every where with me.  You became my little shadow quick!  Wherever I went, you followed.  Never liked being in a different room from me.  That continued until the last week before you passed.  Always wanted to know what was going on.  Didn't want to miss the action!

You were a trooper with mommy dressing you up for Halloween and Christmas.  You hated Halloween the most!  You stayed still as a statue until the costume came off.  You wouldn't even move if the door bell rang HA!  You were adorable I must admit!

The last time you were tortured HA

10 years of birthdays celebrated with you.  Your 9th and 10th birthday was without a cake, but you did get a Dunkin Donut for your 9th and a cupcake for your 10th.

1st Birthday

9th Birthday

10th Birthday
When it was only you, you got lots of beach trips.  Your first beach we took you to was at Jekyll Island, GA.  You were so excited and loved the water.  You've even tried boogie boarding, but that scared you to death!  You wanted to be in the water with daddy so we gave it a try.  I think that was the only time you got on a boogie board.  Just had to let you bark because you had to stay on the beach.

You even got to play in the snow a few times.

You were lucky enough to go on several vacations with us.  Smokey Mountains, Hunting Island, Lake Lure, North Georgia, camping at Carolina State Park and of course every Mississippi trip.  You loved running country side.

Last trip to Mississippi
You were a trooper with the girls. You loved them the most when food was involved.  You sat back and watched there every move.    You loved them and they loved you!!

You were such cuddle bug.  Always laying on me, next to me and stayed warm in our bed.  Even your last moment, you were laying on me safe in my arms.

Cuddled on the my pregnant belly

You will always be part of our family, sweet sweet Bro Bro.  There will never be another pup like you and you could never ever be replaced!!!  You will be missed always always.  I pray you are running in heaven and eating lots of food.  I love you Brody bear!! Until I see you again.
 XXOO!!!
