Joanna's Baptism and Trunk-or-Treat/Fall Carnival

On Sunday, May 25, we celebrated our sweet baby girl at church with having her baptized. She did an awesome job with being quite for the most part.  She did her happy 'talk' which made it even more sweeter.

After the service, we had lunch at good ole Cracker Barrel.  B's parents were able to come to the service so it was nice for all of us to be together for a few hours.

Thankfully, both girls took naps afterwards and we were able to attend our church's trunk-or-treat and fall carnival.  This was Vivian's first time 'trick-or-treating.' She was so cute!  She stood in line collecting her 'prizes' from each decorated vehicle.  She didn't say 'trick-or-treat,' but took her precious time deciding which piece of candy to get.  We had to keep telling her, 'just pick one!' HA!

Once we made it around each car, we went inside for the fall carnival.  They gave us several tickets for the games.  Vivian's friend, Julia, met us there and the girls had a ball.  Face painting, cake walk, fishing, bowling, duck toss were some of the fun games they played.  They had an inflatable slide that Vivian LOVED.  She wanted to go down again and again.  She especially liked climbing the stairs.  Wanted to do it by herself, so no spotting for that kid.

Sunday was an absolute perfect day!

5 Months Old

Sweet buttercup, how is it possible you're already 5 months old?!  It truly has happened in a blink of an eye.

You weigh around 14.5 pounds and I can tell you've grown in length.  You can still wear a few 0-3 months, but primarily wearing 3-6 months clothes.  For diapers, you are in a size 2.

For feedings, you nurse every 2-3 hours when awake.  You are still a quick nurser unless you nap/eat at the same time.

You are still my cat napper and nap on-the-go in the car.  Once in a blue moon you'll stay asleep in the car seat when we go into a store or park, but usually wake not long after being wherever we are.

You're usually in bed between 6:30/7pm and usually wake 30 minutes to an hour later to eat again.  Sleep 4-7 hours, anywhere between 12-3 am, wake to nurse, back asleep until 4/5:30am, have a diaper change and nurse, back to sleep until 7:30-8:30am.   Less than a handful of times you've slept all the way until 5 am to nurse, and only a few times you've slept an entire 12 hours.  I pray we'll reach the point of sleeping 12 hours, maybe once you start solids.  Until then I'm going to enjoy the extra snuggles.

You love your play mat still.  There are times you get so excited with the music, you start kicking and babbling/squealing away.  This month you've been introduced to your exersaucer and starting to really enjoy being in there.  Vivian will show you the animals and make things spin.

You are starting to figure out this sitting up business.  Mommy is ready to plop you down without any support.

Tummy time still isn't your favorite, but you'll tolerate it for a few minutes.  There have been a few times you've rolled from your tummy to back.

You love looking at your hands.  It always looks like you're studying them.  So cute!  You haven't found your feet yet, but you like kicking them in the air.  I'm just waiting for you to do the 'happy baby' pose.

You love to smile and giggle.  Sweetest sight and sound! You have sweet smiling eyes as Memom calls them.

You are an easy going little girl.  You are happy most days and the only time you really become upset is when you're tired.  Can't believe how lucky we are to have you in our lives.  You are an absolute blessing my sweet angel.  I love you oh so much!!!!

Pumpkin Carving

On Saturday, spur of the moment, we decided to carve a pumpkin.  I was bored since our plans had changed and thought Vivian would enjoy playing with the insides.  Off to Wal-Mart we went, grabbed a less than $5 pumpkin and a carving kit.

The weather was perfect outside!  Two garbage bags placed on the ground and a pumpkin to carve.

I thought Vivian was going to love pulling the 'guts' out the pumpkin, but child did not like the slimy feel.  She preferred running around while Mommy worked on the pumpkin.  Oh well, I'm sure next year she'll be my little helper.  I did save the seeds and made roasted cinnamon sugar pumpkin seeds.  We both enjoyed our afternoon treat!

Things Vivian Says

Oh, to be almost 2.5 year old again!  Vivian's vocabulary is expanding and the things she says are hilarious.  Where she learns it from, I have no clue?!

Making toy cars move across the floor: "Ready, set, go!" "That was sooo amazing!"

Getting her bike stuck in the grass: "Oh cheese!" "Help!!" (Which she says it like she's from the back woods), "Oh shoot"

Counting: "Two, three, five, six, seven, nine, ten, eleven, thirteen"

Playing chase: "I got you!"

When you get a boo-boo or bump something: "It hurt, Mommy, kisses" "Its better, all better, thank you Mommy!"

When you want to do something yourself: "I do it, I do it, I dooo it!!!"

Eating: "That's delicious!" "Yummy to my tummy!" "Mmm, that's good"

School: "School day!" "I like school"

Food is gone: "All gone," "More, please"

When you accomplish a task: "Ta Da" with your arms in the air. "I did it!"

Everything: "What's this, Mommy?" Even when you know what it is.

Kisses, saying goodbye, saying goodight: "Last one kiss"  You ask over and over a hundred times.  Its never the last one :)

I hope I never forget the sound of your sweet little voice.  I love it so!!

Hoedown and Pumpkin Patch

Last week, Vivian had her schools annual hoedown.  It was so cute seeing Vivian play games to win prizes and candy.  She definitely tried to take her time deciding on which prize she wanted at each little station.  Amazing how the Dollar Tree toys bring so much joy to a child!  Then on Friday we went to our church's annual pumpkin patch.  This was our 3rd year with Vivian and our 1st with Joanna.  So glad we have a spot for our family tradition.  Vivian picked a pumpkin out for her and for Joanna, I picked mine and B got his.  Nothing says fall like pumpkins!!

4 Month Well-Check

Yesterday was Joanna's well-check and little girl is doing well.  She weighed 13 pounds (22 percentile), 24 inches long (26 percentile) and head measured 40 cm.  So, 2 lb weight gain, 2 inches longer and her head is 2 cm bigger than her 2 month visit.  He was happy with everything, but did mention she dropped a little on the scale in percentile for weight.  She was 26 percentile then.  He said we'll see where she's at at her 6 month visit and we may need to supplement with a little formula.  Honestly, I'm not going to do that.  I just have petite girls.  Vivian has always been in the 20th percentile or below and she was only drinking breastmilk.  Our sweet Joanna is happy, satisfied after nursing, meeting milestones, plenty of dirty diapers, sleeps well at night.  So there ya go!  Happy growing little buttercup!!!
