Glacier National Park Part 1

We finally took the plunge and took our first real family of four vacation.  After booking our rental a year ago, I started stressing about Joanna's sleep schedule.  I thought I was going to completely ruin what we worked on for soooo long.  You know what, she did surprisingly well.  Even though she didn't nap the entire trip, she was well-behaved, went to bed early and slept 12-13 hours.

We spent 3 nights in east Glacier and they were wonderful.  Glacier is truly a beautiful part of the states.  It should definitely be on everyone's bucket list.  After lots of research, we decided to stay on Duck Lake in Babb.  Stunning!  It was a great location and the girls enjoyed going to the rocky beach to dip their toes in the cold water.  Highly recommend staying in this area.

On Saturday, our first full day, the girls were up around 7:30 am.  We left shortly after they were up to drive Going-To-The-Sun-Road. The road fully opened a week before we arrived which there was still a good bit of snow on the ground off the road.  So fun to see in the summer!  The waterfalls were AMAZING!!  I lost count how many we saw.  So unbelievable.

We entered Glacier via St. Mary.

Unfortunately,  Logan's Pass was already full along with Trail of the Cedars.  We did stop at several pull-offs for pictures and made it to Lake McDonald.  The girls had fun playing in the cold water.  Also, the wind was insane that day!  I'm glad the girls didn't get blown away, HA!

Waterfall on the side of the road.

Driving by a waterfall next to the car.  Vivian got a little wet.

Love her facial expression!

Lake McDonald:

After Lake McDonald we made our way back towards our cabin.  Trail of the Cedars and Logan's Pass were full and Virginia Falls trail head was full as well.  Oh well.  We did stop at Sun Point to have a picnic lunch.  After lunch, we did a short hike to Baring Falls.  The trail to Baring Falls was breath taking.  You walked along a beautiful blue lake.  The waterfall was beautiful as well.  Highly recommend this easy hike!

Jackson's Glacier

Before driving back to our cabin, we stopped at Sun Point for a picnic.  After lunch we took the trail to Baring Falls.  Absolutely stunning walk!  The trail was easy and the waterfall was beautiful.  I highly recommend this short hike!

After Baring Falls we headed back to our rental.  The girls had been begging for ice cream so we stopped in St Mary for some over priced ice cream.  One scoop cost $4.50.  The girls were happy and they deserved it!  We had a great first day in Glacier.  More to come with our visit to Two Medicine and Many Glacier.
