Island Park, Idaho Part 3

After our 3 night stay in Glacier ( Part 1Part 2) we made the 6 hour drive to Island Park.  We had a wonderful rental overlooking Henry's Lake.  It was in a great location for us and the girls loved it!

We were only 20 miles from West Yellowstone.  I was nervous about the drive there then once we got into the park, but honestly, it was not bad.  As long as you enter the park early, you avoid the bumper to bumper traffic and you are able to get parking into the pull-offs along the way.  When we left the park that afternoon, it was stand still traffic.  Those poor people.  I will do a separate post on Yellowstone.

Two must see spots in Island Park everyone needs to visit, Big Springs and Mesa Falls.  Two very beautiful areas!

We went to Big Springs in hopes to feed trout in the clearest water I have ever seen, but sadly there were no trout.  The girls had fun feeding the birds!  We took the beautiful trail to Johnny Sack's cabin.  The cabin was stunning and incredible the he built the cabin himself.  It was in a nice spot, too.

Mesa Falls is breathtaking. There was a beautiful rainbow over the falls.  We couldn't have asked for a better day!

If you are visiting Yellowstone, I highly recommend adding these two stops.  Thank you Island Park for being so incredibly beautiful!

Glacier National Park Part 2

Our second and last full day in Glacier we drove to Two Medicine, my favorite part in Glacier.  You can read part 1 here. The drive from our rental was really curvy and there were a few times I held onto the 'oh sh*t handle'.  Poor Joanna even got car sick :(  We had to make a pit stop.  I'm thankful Memom was in the backseat with her and was able to catch some of it.  The drive was very beautiful!

Our first stop in Two Medicine was Running Eagle Falls.  Very easy hike and beautiful!  The girls had the best time!  Love me a good waterfall.

After the falls we parked in the Two Medicine General Store parking lot then walked up the road to Appistoki Falls trail head.  The trail was very dense and I thought we were going to run into a bear.  I definitely had my spray in hand!!  The waterfall wasn't like Running Eagle, but was beautiful to see.

We walked back to the General Store and grabbed lunch and the girls got a souvenir, colored rocks.  Lunch was good and inexpensive.  They have yummy soft serve ice cream as well!

After Two Medicine we had to drive to Many Glacier for our boat tour.  We made it with 2 minutes to spare.  Our tour departed at 3pm and we had to sit in line entering into Many Glacier.  The area was full and they were only letting people who had reservations inside.  I read the boat tour gives up your seat if you aren't checked in 20 minutes before departure, thankfully that wasn't the case for us.  We loved the boat tour!  The girls did really well and really enjoyed themselves.  You tour two lakes, Swiftcurrent Lake and Lake Josephine.  On Lake Josephine we were lucky enough to see a young moose drinking water.  Such a special treat!

We enjoyed our two full days in Glacier.  Such a special treat and so lucky we were able to take our girls...and Memom.  We left on day 3 to Island Park, ID.  Everyone really needs to add Glacier National Park to their bucket list!
