December 2017

Little behind on updating this old blog of mine.  I cannot believe we are already in January!  Where did this year go??

We had a not too busy month of December.  I tried to make most of the month and did as much as we could to get ready for Christmas which I'll update our Christmas on another post.  I just wanted to recap the month itself.  Also, since I skipped November which nothing much went on other than JoJo turning 2.5 years old on the 25th and Thanksgiving at my in-laws.  It was just us four and Nana and Papaw at their house which made it for a quiet Thanksgiving.

The girls wrapped up school on Dec 14 for Christmas break, BK went to NYC for work the 10th-14th and my Mom arrived on the 11th.  It was nice having her here for a couple of weeks and my Dad came Christmas weekend.

We kicked off December with me taking Vivian to see The Nutcracker at Thalian Hall and the same day, BK took JoJo to our churches Advent Extravaganza.  Vivian enjoyed the ballet and it was great because it was a younger audience that only lasted an hour with a short intermission.  Perfect!

One Tuesday night we went to Chick-fil-a and made gingerbread houses.  JoJo ate more than making LOL.

Even though we were in December, it felt more like fall...and looked like it as well.  The girls pretended the leaves were snow.

The girls had their Christmas program at school where they sang Jingle Bells, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.  It was the CUTEST!!  Vivian and I made gingerbread cookies while Jo napped.

Took the girls to the mall to ride the Enchanted train to meet Elsa, Belle, Ariel and Moana.  They also played in the 'snow' in a huge snow globe.  This day taught the girls how to wait patiently for their turn.

Memom came!!!

After BK returned from NYC, we all went to Airlie Enchanted to see Santa and look at all the Christmas lights.  I thought for sure Joanna was going to be scared...kid is afraid of the Chick-fil-a cow, but she took us by surprise and sat proudly in his lap telling him what she wanted for Christmas.  Well, Mommy had to say what she wanted which was a scooter and a baby doll that cries.  Vivian told him she wanted a scooter, walkie talkies and a nerf gun.  Santa brought what they asked for Christmas morning :)

At church Vivian is in children's choir and they had dress rehearsal one Saturday morning and while she was there, my Mom and I took JoJo to Chick-fil-a to see Santa again and listen to a story read by him.

After dress rehearsal they had a little party for all of their hard work and JoJo got to enjoy some snacks.  Afterwards during Joanna's nap, BK and I took Viv roller skating for the first time.  She had the best time!  I haven't been on roller skates since elementary school.  So fun!

The next morning was the children's program at church.  Vivian did a great job!  It was so cute and she made the congregation laugh.  During the 8:45 service when it was her turn to say her line, "gifts of gold, incense and myrrh" she noticed the mic wasn't on and she shouted 'the green light isn't on' LOL After it was turned on she repeated her line.  It made it so cute because the other two little girls each had their line and didn't say anything that the mic wasn't on.  Vivian wanted to make sure everyone could hear her!  Then during the 11am service, she starts belting out the song they were singing.  You could hear her so well and everyone started giggling.  They also giggled after she said her line because she was so loud!  It was the absolute cutest!  She also made an adorable little sheep.

Went to Pender Pines Nursery to see the animals which turned out they had the wooded area with Christmas lights and decorations.  We were unable to make it back when it was dark but will definitely go next Christmas.  We also took Memom to the beach.  You can't come to Wilmington and not see the ocean.

We did have to toss in a sick day with Vivian.

And made Christmas cookies for Santa.

Attempted to take cute pictures of the girls.

It was a fun and long December!!
